Each meeting of the Wine Club has a different focus, and last night’s tasting featured Chilean wines. Nikki Hauser of Huneeus Vintners introduced us to the varied climates of Chile through six different wines from the Huneeus family’s vineyards. I enjoy wine but don’t know much about it, so I really enjoyed Nikki’s descriptions of how the geography of Chile affects its regional climate and creates ideal growing conditions for Sauvignon Blanc in one valley but Cabernet Sauvignon in another. And of course, the wines were great!
If you’re interested in learning more about wine or just want to have fun and meet some friendly people, check out the next meeting of the Wine Club. Events are posted on meetup.com and on the club’s Facebook page. The next meeting will focus on wines of the Languedoc region in France – see you there!
