Happy Groundhog Day, everyone – in case you haven’t already heard, Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow this morning, so he’s predicting an early spring. From my perspective, that means that if you’re thinking about putting your home on the market this spring, now you have an excuse to get started early!
Want another excuse? The second quarter of each year – April, May, and June – is consistently the most popular time for sellers to list their homes for sale. In 2015, according to the National Association of Realtors, there were 1,860,000 homes for sale in the United States in January. By May, there were 2,280,000 homes on the market. That trend is likely to continue even more strongly this year, since last year’s brutal winter weather resulted in lower for-sale inventory than we’d normally see.
So what does that mean for you? Simply stated, the longer you wait to list, the more competition you’ll have. I can guarantee that there are plenty of ready, willing, and able buyers out there right now, looking for homes, and chances are good that at least a few of them are looking for a home just like yours. The weather’s cooperating and the buyers are out in droves, so call, text, or email me today and get ahead of your competition!
